Good Job Living!
Interdisciplinary music-theatre performance
Love yourself,
Do the right thing, Open your world,
Don't live life without it.
Quality never goes out of style.
Open happiness, Sheer driving pleasure,
Because you're worth it.
You know what you have.
The best or nothing.
Background
Good Job Living! is a gently-surreal journey in adeptness: at speaking to strangers, at buying shampoo, receiving gifts, at being yourself... a 30-minute (or concert-length) performance floating between monologue, physical performance, object theatre, and extended musical soundscape, it examines being a subject in/of just trying to live in the world we've made. How do we manage (or not) to communicate using the words and means we've inherited?
Premiere performance 10 July 2024 at the Hochscule für Musik und Theater, Hamburg.
Sporting goods performance 31 August 2024 in a community gymnasium in Ankarsrum, Sweden, Hjorted Art and Music Festival
Masters thesis project for CoPeCo (Contemporary Performance and Composition) degree, Estonian Music and Theatre Academy, Tallinn; Royal College of Music, Stockholm; Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Lyon; and the Hochscule für Musik und Theater, Hamburg.
